THERAPY

Therapy at WayPoint is unique and individualized. Much of therapy is spent outdoors, and we utilize any therapy style that helps the individual whether that is holistic, cultural, spiritual, or religious. Unique to WayPoint is our integration of hiking, meditation, outdoor recreation, gardening, and skill building.

DAILY SCHEDULE

For each program, a typical day begins with morning classes. The afternoon is usually for skill building, which can include carpentry, mechanics, landscaping, construction, and more! Throughout the day, participants take part in on and off-site 12-step meetings and one-on-one meetings with the provider therapist.

There is no contact for 30 days. After 30 days, supervised phone calls or monitored written correspondence are allowed. All those listed on your release of information form (ROI) are welcome to inquire via telephone, email, or mail.

After 90 days, in-person visitation is encouraged at the Let-N-Go Ranch in Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona. We provide a unique reunion setting for family visits at the Let-N-Go ranch, a cabin on 30 acres where family can stay free of charge. When attendees reach certain milestones, they can enjoy in-person visitation here. The property includes a zipline, infinity pond, kayaking pond, tree house, pavilion, soccer field, and hobbit house. Leave your mark for future participants on the positive path. Any other visitations will usually be on a case-by-case basis.

Along with medical practices, we use behavioral approaches to help in recovery. Here are some examples of approaches we use.

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy: The idea behind this approach is anticipating problems that may occur and giving the patients coping strategies to self-regulate.
  • Contingency Management Interventions/Motivational Incentives: This approach focuses on applying rewards to behaviors like abstinence. For example, reaching milestones and visiting family and friends at the 30-acre Let N Go Ranch.
  • Community Reinforcement Approach Plus Vouchers: This approach is about making a non-drug-using lifestyle more rewarding than substance use. This is used especially in our longer-term programs with introducing life skills and career building. Other examples are recreational, family, and social reinforcers.
  • Motivational Enhancement Therapy: Focused on improving engagement and motivation, this approach is important for those who find it hard to be motivated to change. This involves talking with professionals and building a plan to move forward.
  • The Matrix Model: The Matrix Model includes family and group therapies, relapse prevention, drug education, and self-help participation. This program focuses on building the patient’s self-worth and self-esteem.
  • 12-Step Facilitation Therapy: The 12-step program is an effective program you may have already heard of. Through group sessions, learn to accept that drug addiction is a chronic disease over which no one can have control, surrender to a higher power, and help others on their journey.
